can anybody explain this to me?

Why is it that every major hate movement connects their chosen object of hatred to Jewish people? Why can't people just admit that they hate people for the act of being a different color or a different gender? Why does it have to be about a great big hairy conspiracy theory wherein their chosen object of hate is "in it" with the Jewish population and wants to take over?

Jill,

I had many Jewish friends in high school who were involved in Holocaust curriculum efforts (via an organization called "Students Against Intolerance"). Their mission was to educate students about genocide (past and present) and the social tensions and epideictic beliefs (my term, not theirs) that lead up to that. They promoted awareness of the community's beliefs, as well as self-introspection, as a way to combat those kind of conditions. I really wish every educational institution, at the very least, had something like SAI.

P.S. I'm reminded that I must return to that chapter in "Dialectic of Enlightenment"
